Winter break hours and operations

Dining Services 

‌All Dining Services locations will be closed Sunday, Dec. 17, through Monday, Jan. 1, 2024. Atrium Café, The Spa, and Burgess Cafe will reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 2. Murray-Aikins Dining Hall will reopen Saturday, Jan. 13. All locations will have modified hours through Friday, Jan. 19.

‌Tang Teaching Museum 

‌Starting this week, the Tang Teaching Museum will be open Tuesday through Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. with the exception of Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve; regular hours resume on Jan. 23. December is the last chance to see “Unset Texts” and “Paula Wilson: Toward the Sky’s Back Door,” and most galleries will be closed in January as new exhibitions are prepared. An opening reception for “Abject Anatomy,” “Isaac Julien: Lessons of the Hour,” and “Studio/Archive” will take place on Friday, Feb. 9.

‌Williamson Sport Center 

‌Williamson Sports Center will close for break at 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15, and reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 2, with reduced hours. Anticipated hours will be 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday; and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. There will be no open swim and limited weight room hours.

‌Broadview Federal Credit Union 

‌Broadview will close for the holidays at the end of the day on Friday, Dec. 15, and will reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 2, with its normal hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with a 1:15 to 2 p.m. lunch break. Please email the Skidmore branch if you have questions.

‌Lucy Scribner Library 

‌The library will close to the public at noon on Friday, ‌Dec. 15, and reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2.

‌

‌Skidmore Shop 

‌Get your Skidmore holiday shopping in while you can! Skidmore Shop closes for the year at 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15. All skidmoreshop.com orders placed after 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15, will not be processed until Wednesday, Jan. 3. 

‌

‌Skidmore Weekly Bulletin 

‌The Bulletin will be paused over winter break and resume Wednesday, Jan. 10. All submissions received before noon on Monday, Jan. 8, will be included then. There will be no student edition on Jan. 10. Submit announcements and events, academic lectures, and faculty-staff achievements by completing the appropriate online form. The Office of Communications and Marketing wishes you a restful break.

Winter break donations ‌

‌As students move out before break, Campus Life and Engagement, Health Promotions, and Sustainability are collecting clothes, housewares, and nonperishable food. Donations can be picked up by Google Form request through the end of today, Dec. 13, and will be available to students staying on campus starting Friday, Dec. 15. Contact Jen Natyzak with questions.

‌Online winter holiday mixer 

‌Neil McKinnon '97, chair of diversity on the Alumni Association Board, invites all to join in the celebration of Skidmore's diverse communities from 8 to 9 p.m. tomorrow, Dec. 14. Alumni of color, LGBTQIA+ alumni, international alumni, and others will gather online for a holiday mixer. Welcome our newest Affinity volunteers, working to foster connections and goodwill across decades and identities. All are invited. Register for the Zoom event.

‌Student winter break Professional Success Series ‌

‌Students are invited to learn how to unlock the full potential of LinkedIn, understand employee benefits, succeed as a liberal arts major, and handle money in this online instructional series. Registration is on Handshake. Contact Michelle Hubbs with questions.

Save the date: Culinary competition 

‌Skidmore Dining Services will host its 10th annual ACF Sanctioned Culinary Competition from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 12. Four-person teams from six different states will be competing in Murray-Aikins Dining Hall. Audiences are welcome.

‌Book buyback ends soon ‌

‌Get cash back for books you no longer need; Skidmore Shop buyback will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday, Dec. 15. Contact Becky Mattison or Karen Knoll for information.

Athletics News

The intercollegiate athletic schedule resumes Sunday, Dec. 31, when the women’s basketball team hosts Mount St. Mary College at 2 p.m. in a non-league game. Three teams are home Jan. 5 and 6. On Jan. 5, the basketball teams host Rensselaer at 5:30 p.m. (women’s) and 7:30 p.m. (men’s). The No. 10-ranked hockey team will face Hobart, the No. 1 and defending national champion, at 7 p.m. at the Saratoga Springs City Rink. The Jan. 6 schedule features the basketball teams at home against Union at 2 p.m. (women’s) and 4 p.m. (men’s). Skidmore’s hockey team takes on No. 6, Elmira, at 4 p.m. For more information, visit the Skidmore Athletics website.
